My D will be in Paris for a conference. While in Paris, she will be visiting a French couple we know well. Any ideas for something to take with her when my D visits them?
Any great food products unique to your neck of the woods that aren’t easily attainable in Paris? I think consumable gifts are best. For me, it would be maple syrup.
Another vote for something consumable. Even flowers picked up on the way would be appreciated, and probably nothing is expected.
ETA… is it just coincidence that I now have flower ads popping up
Be careful about what food items are allowed into the country.
Personally I would pick up flowers and wine once there.
Do you have any photos of the early days of your friendship? You playing with their child or yours together in the city they used to live in? Print on nice card stock and attach to wine or flowers.
Probably not what you want her to give, but my family in France asks for chocolate chips when any of us visit! They can be scarce in grocery stores there- what they have is more like chocolate melting disks.
A selection of American spices like BBQ rub or taco seasoning? When we traveled to China, we were told they like American ginger root. Celestial Seasonings tea?
I am a fan of gifting tea towels. There are so many with cute graphics and funny sayings. While they aren’t consumable, they pack easily and are useful. And, they can be wrapped, which gives the recipient something to “open.”
I like the tea towel idea if you want something that’s not consumable.
I hope I don’t get myself in trouble for being “political,” but one of the most well received little gifts I’ve given someone was kitchen towels that said “My dog would make a better president” with a pic of a dog underneath.
To get something like that you’ve got to know your audience, but there are lots of good options.
I, too, like the tea towel idea. It’s small and almost consumable if you replace them as often as I do. I will see if I can find some fun towel.
