hotel - alternatives

<p>Hi!</p>

<p>Maybe this would fit better in the international student forum, but i figured that I’d probably get more/better help here.</p>

<p>I’m an international student from Europe and I’ll be attending college in the US this january. My flight leaves on Monday,
I’ll be living in some kind of co-op where i declared my check-in date as january 15th and alreay paid fees/rent. That was a few months ago. After specifically asking them about it a few days ago I just received notification that check-in is not possible on Monday because it’s a holiday. Now I don’t really have a place to go to upon arrival. However, i need to be at my college on tuesday morning for an information session.</p>

<p>Are there any alternatives to a hotel (It’s just one night after all). They’re really expensive… If not, do you know good websites where i can find cheap hotels?</p>

<p>It’s Los Angeles/Santa Monica area.</p>

<p>If you do a Google search for youth hostels you’ll find places that are rated well. Maybe not your first choice of accomidations, but it’ll be cheaper than a hotel.</p>
