I am just dismayed that people can’t wear traditional garb from anywhere else without getting a bigoted reaction.
Disgusting. Horrifying. Not surprising. Especially when one of the two people with the possibility of becoming our next president doesn’t denounce a supporter when she asks about banning people with “heebie jobbies” (hijabs) from working in certain jobs and instead says “we’re looking into that.”
I think its also a sad state of affairs in this country when Sikhs feel so threatened and uncomfortable for their religious/cultural clothing that they need to run an advertising campaign making Americans aware that they are not muslims.
@doschicos, I especially appreciate your comment because I live in the state in which a Sikh temple was the site of a mass shooting.
The irony is I don’t think a PR campaign will protect Sikhs from bigots. A man with a turban is a terrorist, regardless. (oh… none of the recent terrorists was wearing a turban? please don’t interject facts)
Did you hear the one about the drunk guy who got up on a bar and yelled, “Allah is the one true god!” ?? Cleared the place out. He was lucky he didn’t get shot.
Just watched the bodycam video of this poor mans arrest. Disgusting…
Geez, that was awful. They said charges are going to be brought against the clerk.

I’m surprised the clerk wasn’t fired immediately. That’s not exactly a smile and a warm cookie kind of welcome.
