hotels near airport in Rome?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a clean, safe hotel near the airport in Rome? We will have stayed near the Vatican and toured other parts earlier in the trip, but want to stay close to the airport for our flight home. We will need a shuttle in the morning. There will be 5 of us. Thanks!!

Yes! We stayed here and didn’t even need a shuttle in the morning for our early flight, walking distance.

We needed 2 rooms though for five.

Also try the Hilton Garden Inn at the airport. It costs half as much as the regular Hilton. The shuttle is walking distance and leaves every 10 minutes (a 4 minute ride)

I just booked the Courtyard Marriott at Leonardo da Vinci - I assume that’s the airport you’re talking about (FCO). There’s also Ciampino (CIO).

I’ve stayed at the Courtyard Marriott near the airport. It was a couple of years ago now, but it was a fine hotel at a good price compared to other hotels, particularly the one attached the airport. Just make sure that any hotel you select has a shuttle that runs early enough for you to make your flight.

If you have some time the day before your flight, there is a charming hotel in the charming neighborhood Trastevere: Hotel Santa Maria

Four of us stayed here last November and they arranged a shuttle to the FCO airport.

Thanks to all of the replies. We ended up booking at the Courtyard Marriot Rome at the airport. Now for my next question, if we are traveling by trains, busses, etc, how would we find our way there from the main train station in Rome? Is it an easy trip via bus? I feel so clueless about this whole situation. We were all booked for a beach vacation this summer in Florida, but the oil spill has made us make some quick changes. We are normally much better organized and know how things work where we are going. Here, we have no idea and don’t really have anyone to ask! I appreciate your help!

Here is a good place to search for info and ask:

There is a special train(the Leonardo express) that leaves every 30 minutes from the central train station for around 9 EU. The train has a separate ticket office at the front of the station. The train takes you right into the airport terminal. EASY Peasey.

But if there are five of you, you might consider sharing a shuttle and leaving at your own schedule, direct from your hotel in Rome(that is IF you are staying IN Rome before you stay at the hotel near the airport.) It should cost around 60-75 EU.

And congrats on the timing. I think the Euro is only $1.22 this
