Hotels Near Duke

Heading to Duke to take in a sporting event over spring break. I need some suggestions for decent hotels – either cheap and decent enough for two rooms, or roomy enough and decent for four of us (me, H, S2 and FrenchXS – S1 is playing in said sporting event and staying with his team.)

We’d like to be close to campus. We only need one night.

Brookwood Inn http://www.brookwoodinn.com and University Inn http://www.universityinnduke.com are probably closest hotels (within a mile) with good rates. Millenium http://www.millenniumhotels.com is more expensive but you might check to see if they have special deals.

Holiday Inn Express on Guess Rd. is closer to East Campus, but we stay there just about every time we’re at Duke. It’s nicer than others we’ve tried, not expensive and they have free breakfast. The employees have always been very helpful and friendly!

We stayed at the La Quinta 2 years ago. It was very nice and clean, also quite cheap considering we were there on the night of the “big game.”

The La Quinta actually is very nice and my parents stay there from time to time.
The Millennium is probably slightly more, but it’s almost as close to campus as the Washington Duke which is going to be the most expensive option.

Will you have a car? the Homewood Suites (and the Comfort inn) are both on Mt. Moriah Rd. Its right off Durham-chapel Hill Rd, right behind a few restaurants (a nice japanese Restaurant an Outback, I believe). Only a few minutes away from campus, right across from a big shopping center (with a Kohls and such, in case you forget something) and they are roomy (2 room suites) reasonable and clean. They also have free breakfast. We’ve stayed in them several times.

We have stayed at the Hampton Inn many times. It is close to campus and the included breakfast was a plus. The staff was super friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
