Like many of these shows, Property Brothers and Love it Or List it are Canadian. The brothers have filmed in Toronto, Vancouver, part of a season in Austin TX, part of another in Atlanta, and I read recently that this year they’re filming in Westchester County.
LIOLI, probably one of the most annoying shows on tv, with Hilary and David, is in Toronto. There are spin-offs in Vancouver and some time this year in the UK. I haven’t seen any of the U.S. episodes.
I enjoy watching these shows even though I know that all of them are scripted and not at all real in what they show.
Have seen a couple of these shows- sale of two cities.
Particularly interested in the philadelphia. vs Portland comparison. ( daughhger is renting in Philly)
I find house hunters, and fixer upper addictive. Love chip Gaines-
We have been watching it. It is “inspiring” I would say. Well, we went ahead and in fact bought a condo that we will use for vacations for now (and renting out) and as a second house for half / half year type of living in retirement.
I do enjoy watching the shows, and this despite knowing they are as real as three dollars bills. The HH International versions are mostly fake and seem to serve as promotional pieces for the brokers involved.
A recent episode of that Lake Living showed the “selection” of a condo. The “prospective” owners had it listed on Airbnb for a year before the show aired and pretended to be an actual purchase. The furniture and décor were identical. While it does not detract for the entertainment value on a lazy afternoon, it helps to know that most stories and values are a figment of the imagination of the show writers.
The Waco family is interesting and seem entirely genuine. Quite different from the “house flippers” in California. I think that the people who end up purchasing those type of houses (in CA) must be livid to find out the crap they bought.
I do really like Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper, the Waco, Texas based show. They sure seem like a really sweet, talented, loving couple and their kids are also pretty cute. I love what these people with pretty modest budgets end up with at the end of the show.
