Housing App Question

Does it matter when you apply/submit your application? I heard that they only start looking at them after May 1st, so it’s not on a first come, first serve basis, right?

Also, my family makes less than 60K a year so I’m basically going on a full ride, but it only covers double dorms. I really want to live at a specific house, so if I choose a double room at that house for preference 1 and then put a single room at that house for preference 2, will Cornell cover the extra-cost of the single room in the case that I don’t get the double?

Thanks.

I think you should give the housing department a call or direct email. They’ll pull up your file and advise. Any time you have questions, don’t hesitate to call The more you know, the better equipped you’ll be to have a positive experience.

I think they only give you money to live in a single if you end up in one when you did not request it AND if you are on financial aid.

Its about $1000 more for a single. I have heard for girls if they request Balch they often get a single even though they did not request it.
