How difficult is it to get a single dorm room? Is it worth it? What are the best dorms for engineering majors (I.e. quietness, people in similar majors, etc)?

Thanks!

Single rooms are fairly rare outside of North, Nittany Apartments, and Eastview (and Eastview is not open to freshmen). West Halls is where the highest concentration of engineering/IST majors are, but there are fewer freshmen.

I guess what I meant to ask is, as a junior, is it difficult to get a single room? Meaning is there a waiting list or does the increased price scare people off enough…

Haha…gotcha. The answer is pretty much the same, but it gets harder to get a room, period, as a junior/senior. Contracts are offered and there is a wait list, but you wouldn’t want to be without a Plan B for a place to live.

Take a look at E House in McKee (West Halls)–
[Penn State University Park - Housing - Special Living Options](<a href=“Home Page | LiveOn”>Home Page | LiveOn)

You wouldn’t have a single but the rooms are large, you’d be living with other engineering students and the location is convenient.
