economically my family its going through hard times. We have to pick scrap metal, have no AC, mom just went through a divorce so our income is cut in half and our house is one month away from foreclosure. Unfortunately, colleges are asking for housing deposits and SAT scores which means money. Some colleges let me send scores on transcripts but not all and FSU alone is asking for a $250 deposit. Do you think colleges will waive the fee? Should I talk to my guidance counselor? We can’t even afford test scores much less the housing…

If you live close to the school, bring all the paperworks about your hardship (divorce paper, lost income, notice of default and forlosure paper, all collection agency letters, etc etc.) to the scholl and show them in person to the financial aid officers and see what they say… otherswise, make copies of everything mail to them and followup with phone calls.

Why are you being asked to send SAT scores and a housing deposit? You send SAT scores to get admitted to a school. You send a deposit after you’ve been admitted and agree to attend.
