I was recently accepted off of Cornell’s waitlist, and I just sent in my housing app and deposit. Do waitlisted students get short-changed in terms of housing assignments, i.e. will we be placed in less desirable/popular dorms? I know that housing apps received by May 1 were placed in a random lottery. But what happens to everyone else? Will Cornell still take my “lifestyle/preference” information into account (night owl/early bird, messy/neat, etc.)? Can I still get a roommate at this point? I am also really concerned because I would die if I had to live in the single-sex dorm. Would they force me into this kind of situation against my wishes due to a lack of space?

im also an accepted waitlisted student and i was wondering the same thing

In my year (09) one of the townhouse quads was almost entirely made up of people off the waitlist. Since there are so many people who send their housing in late/are from the waitlist, there is a considerable group of people from which a roommate who matches your sleeping/neatness style can be picked.

I can’t say where you will be placed this year obviously but Cornell does save space for people coming in.
