Housing in Nic 6

Does anyone know how the rooms are in Nic? My son has a 2 room double, but isnt it awkward to walk through the one room to get to the other… Isnt that inconvenient for whoever has that room or do they usually set the first room as a living room and then use the other room as a bed room for both roommate. Why didnt they just add 2 doors?

Also are the bathrooms loud or is there sufficient soundproofing or do the rooms meet right up to the bathroom walls??

I personally love the idea of a two-room double, and I ended up in one in West College.

I think having to walk through one room to get to the other still allows people more privacy than a regular double would, and I don’t really think it’s “awkward”. Maybe inconvenient if one person’s asleep and you have to go through their room in the middle of the night to get to the bathroom or something, but I still don’t think it’s any more inconvenient than a regular double.

I think people generally have two different bedrooms, but I’m not totally sure. My roommate and I will definitely be doing that. It might be cool to get to have a living room too, but that’s kind of a hassle and not really something I personally would want.

If they added another door, then it would be like two singles oddly joined by a door which would probably be more convenient but I think it would sort of defeat the purpose of a being in a double.

In my experience, it’s not really that the bathrooms are loud but that the doors are loud. They’re pretty heavy and they don’t really slam or anything, but the sound of them normally closing is bad enough. They really bug me but you get used to it after awhile.

Yeah, the two-room double is pretty much the best of both worlds, your son is lucky. It gives you the roommate experience while giving each roommate their own space. I do know some people that do the living-room/bedroom set up, but I also know people who just keep each as their own room. It’s a personal choice.

two-room doubles are indeed the best of both worlds. one room isn’t inherently better than the other, some people prefer one or the other. the benefit of the inside room is that you have more privacy because your roommate never has to go into your room. benefits to the outside room are that you don’t have to walk through someone else’s room, and it’s more social because you can talk to people who are walking through the hall.

some people do put the beds together in one room so there’s one bedroom and one living room, but I’ve only seen it happen after the roommates become really good friends.

since there’s no door to the hall on the inside room, that means you get a huge closet/dresser thing on that wall of the room.
