Do you need coins to do your laundries on Busch?

Also, how does the housing system work for continuing students? I heard it was a lottery, so people who apply early have no benefit to increase their chances of being selected to the residence hall of their choice.

Correct me if I’m wrong. If a Rutgers sophomore wants to live on, say, Judson suites or any of the four near by, that student can be placed on Cook/Douglass by the lottery system if he isn’t so lucky?

You can use quarters for laundry, but it’s even easier to put money on your id card. RU Express is where you can basically transfer money from a credit card to your id card, and you can use RU Express at the campus centers for food, laundry, and even restaurants on college ave accept it. It’s easier than carrying quarters ($1.25 for the washer and $1.25 for the dryer).

Housing gets a little competitive after freshman year. It’s a lottery system, and your lottery number is completely random. Housing on Busch gets tough after your freshman year because it has the most coveted housing. The suites (Thomas, Crosby, Judson, Morrow, Winkler) got taken first. Apartments are on Busch and Cook/Douglass. They usually get taken next, Busch being gone the fastest. Doubles are on Livingston and College Ave. It’s a little difficult arranging with your friends who’s going to live where, but it worked out nicely for me in the end. You just have to be lucky, honestly.

So it doesn’t make much difference whether I apply for housing early or late because it’s just all random?

Also, isn’t it a little dangerous to place any type of balance on your student card especially you’re a clumsy person?

Yes, the lottery is totally random.

You just have to be extra careful with your card lol. I put mine in my wallet so it doesn’t fall out or anything.
