Housing Questions

So I am on the waitlist for Hendricks House. What are my chances of getting in? And considering the first priority deadline for public housing is may 15th, what should I do since my two option I am considering are lsr and Hendricks House. I am a incoming freshman in teh College of Engineering with no roommate preference atm but that might change. Is one better than the other? Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated

You probably have a decent chance for the wait list to come through for HH but it is not certain. As a result, you should consider also applying for university housing by May 15. The rules as to deposits for housing are that if you are accepted to both private certified and regular UIUC housing, you can choose one and the other is required to return any housing deposit you made (as to UIUC regular housing it can be credited to your student account and used towards other costs).

Be aware that ISR is heavily occupied by upperclassmen leaving limited spots for freshman with the result that many freshman who apply for it don’t get it and thus you need to list alternative choices in your university housing application if you submit that application.

thanks for your help, any good options for engineering students for pub housing besides isr

If you want to have the option to take part in social activities and go out with people, try the six pack (either ikenberry north or south). However, this is a bit far from the engineering campus. Don’t do FAR/PAR, because they are furthest away from North of Green Street and IMO there dining halls are the worst. You could also try Lincoln Avenue Residence Hall (LAR) or Allen Hall. They are known to have fairly artsy people and be very prideful cough cough and they are actually fairly close to engineering campus. However, LAR’s dining hall is smallish.
