I cannot find a concise answer to this question, so I was curious if anyone here would know. Can an incoming freshman at Georgia Tech room with an upperclassman in apartment style housing? (if the upperclassman specifies that he wants to room with the underclassman).

Generally, no. Although they may make exceptions for health reasons. e.g. If you’re diabetic and need to have a kitchen to be able to meet your dietary needs. Freshmen athletes also typically live in apartment style housing.

I suppose if they have extra room, they might make an exception in the case where an upper clansmen already assigned an apartment style room with an extra space requests an incoming freshmen, but I highly doubt it. You can certainly try though.

So in the case that a junior requested a four room apartment, and he requested a freshman and two other juniors, would another upperclassman that wasn’t requested possibly fill the freshman’s slot?

As long as you’re not a part of the “Freshman Experience” program, you should be able to apply for housing in non-freshman dorms/apartments. At least that’s what I’ve heard from other people, but your best answer is probably going to come from just asking the housing department
