How about MS of MAE@UCSD

I got an admission of M.S. from Dep.MAE at UCSD; However, this program provides non financial assistantship for M.S students and the program lasts only one year including 3 quarters with thesis.

Why I want to choose this program is because that the university is famous of its academic atmosphere; Besides, I am interested in medical devices and want to engage with design for medical products for future career. San Diego has suitable background to meet me as its powerful biomedical and medicine industry background.

So I just doubt this one year’ s program can not radiate me and prepare myself to compete with the best in industry, and I want to know more details about the quality of this program and future career in development of biomedical products.

Thanks.

Hi guy, I also got an admission of M.S. from Dep.MAE at UCSD. My major is mechanical. Yes, as you say, UCSD did not support the MS student financial aid and the program is only one year. It means we have very little time to get involved in internship which is very important to our future job. And I also got the admission of M.s. leading to Ph.D. from Columbia Univ. But I heard that Phd might hurt job for the “overqualified” reasons. So I am so wondering.

I just doubt the future industry career. But I noticed that the Jacobs offered many opportunities for ME students to do internship in Summer. It means that 3 quarters’ study and later a summer internship can help to find a suitable position in industry. This is part of my plan.
