How Am I looking For BU? Worried Junior!

Although I don’t post much, I am ALWAYS lurking around (specially in this part of the forum) and would like to hear your opinions…I am only a junior but I would like to see if I am on track for Boston University, as it is my top choice and I think I will apply ED next fall.

9th:
Honors English 9
Honors Geometry
Honors Modern World History
Honors Physical Science
French 1
PE (required)
Freshman Focus (required)

10th
Honors English 10
Honors Algebra II (I am TERRIBLE at math. It has been my downfall for all of high school. I failed first semester than I was switched to regular Algebra II second semester and went to summer school to make up 1st semester and worked really hard and earned a B)
AP US History (I got a 2 on the exam but I think if I can get the money, I will retake it again this year and hopefully get a 3)
Honors Biology
French 2
Theatre Arts
Speech/Health (both required classes)

Currently:
Advance Literary Trends/Composition aka English 11 Honors
College Algebra/Trigonometry (my guidance counselor and principals will not let me switch out of math even though I have already met my math credits and I am terrible. My GPA is suffering because of this!)
AP US Government
Honors Chemistry
French 3
Computer Business Applications (required)/Design
Psychology/Sociology (Although, it is not offered as a class I am planning on taking the AP exam for psych)

Next Year I plan on taking:
AP English Literature
AP Biology
AP French
Personal Finance (required)/Honors Seminar (not a class for a credit…just a study hall)
Journalism or a Theatre Class
I would like to be a Library Aid for one of my open hours
My principals and guidance counselor will most likely want me taking a math class. So, there’s UMKC College Algebra (for actual college credit this time) or Precalculus (but I’d be out of my mind if I took that) and I think there will be AP Statistics (but I don’t think so)

So like I said, math is my weakest subject and because of it my GPA has been low and I’ve just missed the 10% line but I’m planning on making it next year (and maybe this year). I’ve talked to my counselor and at the end of senior year if I keep good grades by Weighted GPA should by at least 3.6 and at least UW 3.3

I haven’t taken the ACT or SATs yet. But my PLAN scores from 10th grade predicted at 30-32 on ACT and the PSATS have predicted at least a 2000. However, I honestly think I can bring those up.

ECs (also including next year, sorry if this is confusing):
Cross Country- all 4 years. Captain 11th & 12. Ran Varsity meets 11th and will be varsity next year.

Swimming -all 4 years. Varsity 11 & 12. Might be captain next year.

Soccer- all 4 years. Varsity 11 & 12 (I’m pretty sure) Not sure if I’ll be captain but there’s a possibility.

Track & Field?- 11th & 12. Not sure if I want to give up soccer and go back to track (did it in middle school) but my cross country coach wants me to. Or I could just go to the meets and stay with soccer.

Theatre Club- all 4 years. Might be President next year or at least vice president. Been either backstage or acting for EVERY SINGLE production since freshman year. Will senior direct a one act play next year and might be a stage manager. Have been Head Props Person, been on run crew, etc, etc.

CAPPIES (international organization where 9 students from each school go to other schools in this program and watch their musicals/straight plays and critique the shows and the best reviews get published in local newspapers.)- 10-12. I’ve already been told that I will be lead critic next year and I’m trying to get publish on all the shows I see so I can get Best Female Critic Award at the end of the year banquet either this year or next year.

GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance)- freshman year

SGA- 9th, 11th (Secretary for 2012 class) and I’ll do it next year but don’t know if I’ll hold an office position next year

Youth In Government- 11th & 12th (maybe president next year)

Model UN -11th & 12 (maybe president next year)

Yearbook- 12th (it was a class and I was planning on taking it this year but became a club this year) maybe an office position.

Should have 100+ volunteer hours by the end of senior year.

OTHER THINGS:
Hopefully will be going to Interlochen for Creative Writing summer 2011 if I get accepted and can raise the money. Not sure if this is something you would put on the application?

Have a book blog will I review books and get lots of books in the mail from authors and publishers to read/review. I have a few hundred followers. Again, not sure if this is something I would put on my college application as its not official.

Female
African American
Go to a HS of about 700. Somewhat competitive.
From Kansas City, MO.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any input! I’m sorry this is all over the place. I just got out of swim practice and I’m incredibly tired. I feel like I’m missing some things so I might edit this or just post another reply.

:)

EDIT: WHOA! I’m am really sorry for this long post. I ramble on and on sometimes.

Oh, so, I’m not 100% sure what I plan on majoring in but I’m looking at…

English Education (for high school)
Elementary Education
Psychology
Creative Writing

I’m not exactly sure if the schools these fall under are harder to get into than others. Can someone help me out?

Sorry for replying again! I can not for the life of me find the edit button…

I forgot to put that I was also inducted into the International Thespian Society before my freshman year was up! I know that its not that important to know about…

You have a pretty good class load and I think you show desire to attend BU, which can both help. You’re GPA is a little low. It’s difficult to chance you, though, without an actual ACT/SAT score. I think you should come back in about 10-12 months and post again when you have more information. My advice to you would be to bring your GPA up as best you can and do your best to score highly on SAT/ACT.
