If an applicant has all 5s and a 4 on AP exams and would like scores to be considered, does each school have their own mechanism for reporting scores in the application process (if the school will consider them?) Also, do EA schools look at 1st Q grades? Thinking not as transcripts look like they’re already sent …
If the AP scores are reported in the application, they’re considered. How much they’re considered varies by university. In general, they are much less important than other aspects, but could be a feather on the scale when everything else is equal ( which is never the case; all other things are never equal).
For EA and ED, some universities require Q1 updates from every applicant. Some request them from some applicants. Some make their decisions without Q1. So like so many things related to admissions, the answer is “it depends.”
You report AP test scores in the testing section of the common app:
If you don’t want to send scores to a given school just take out the AP test scores you don’t want send.
Like ski said, we don’t really know to what degree any school considers these test scores in their admission process (but they all collect scores in the same way/area of common app.) Generally I would send scores of 4 and 5 to all schools.
AP Scores are reported in Common App (optional).
EA schools don’t ask for Q1 grades, nor do they really officially matter since the course is not completed. That said, my child did update her grades to the more competitive schools at the end of the semester (block schedule - course complete - GPA rose). Not sure if it mattered at all, but it was before acceptances were sent out.
Some do
