How are Cornell Engineering's Student Grant Program and Engineering Learning Initiatives related?

Hi, I’m a HS senior and I’m in the final stages of writing my supplement essay for Cornell Engineering. I see on the Cornell Engineering website that there is a research grant program called [url = <a href=“http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/resources/learning_initiatives/%5DEngineering”>http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/resources/learning_initiatives/]Engineering Learning Initiatives. I also see there’s something called the [url = <a href=“https://www.engineering.cornell.edu/research/undergraduate/student_grant/%5DStudent”>https://www.engineering.cornell.edu/research/undergraduate/student_grant/]Student Grant Program. How exactly are the two related? Is “Student Grant Program” the actual name of a program, or does it just happen to be capitalized? Also, if you have a comfortable income and probably wouldn’t qualify for much need-based aid, does that affect your chances of funding for these programs?

I would also like to ask if there are any other major research grant programs I should be aware about, as an undergrad applicant. Thanks!

Those are good queations to ask the folks at Cornell. It really, truly, is OK for you to pick up the phone, call them, and ask.
