I heard that advisor in college is very important factor in my college life. How are the advisors in Mcgill? Are they good? Especially Physics, Math, CS, Chem, … that sort. Also, is there any kind of ‘main advisor’, like counselor in highschool?

It varies a lot depending on the advisor (some are really good, some completely useless, it’s hard to give an overall evaluation, even within a department). A piece of advice: go see the undergrad societies of the various departments you are interested in and ask the current older undergrads. Chances are you’ll get better advice than from most advisors (provided you fall on friendly people; back in my day, the math society was really helpful, the physics one, not in the least bit, but things have changed since then).

departmental advisors are so much better than the advisors you’re assigned initially!!! if you get rosa colaianni…pretend you have paul olioff! that man basically advises all of rosa’s kids cause she is completely useless! i can’t believe that woman is an advisor. i actually want to start a club at mcgill aimed to fire her
