How are the academics of the Senate Page program?

I’m interested in applying for the fall 2018 Senate Page, and I’m wondering what the schooling is like. I am planning on taking 5-6 AP classes next year. What are the offerings, and what is the quality of what is offered?

You might try asking in the parents forum. But I can’t see how a very heavy courseload and having time for your page duties would mesh well together. That said, I’d encourage my own kid to take the page opportunity for sure. HS academics are just play compared to college anyway – make sure you get they some kind of honors or AP Calc for sure before graduating, take some kind of bio/Chem/physics, and (literally) everything else can be made up. The page program would be a legit explanation for fewer APs, too.

Colleges like students who do stuff that is different than their peers. The page program would be far more interesting to them than 5-6 more AP classes.

Agree almost 100% with @intparent … with the exception being that I found it to be quite a heavy course load despite working full time as well. Classes frequently have to be adjusted due to the Senate schedule which lends to more homework.

Definitely a good experience. Frankly, once getting to college a lot of my AP credit didn’t even do me any good. (with the exception of AP Calc which I also agree with @intparent on.

Also, even though they are not AP classes, you may be able to take the AP tests anyway
