How are the ladies?

Calm down, I don’t think that’s why people start threads like this. I think many guys are geniunely interested in seeing how hot the girls are at a particular school, although they may not realize at first that all schools have hot, average, and ugly girls, in roughly the same proportions.

Wow please try to learn how to spell the most basic words in the English language before posting.

Actually I think this post has a point to it. There are quite a few good-looking Asian girls at Berkeley, but the white girls I’ve seen, for the most part, haven’t impressed me. Maybe that’s why I don’t think Berkeley’s girls are as bad as some people make it out to be. I’ll admit if we were talking strictly about percentages of hot girls at Berkeley compared with say, UCLA, Berkeley’s percentage might be a little lower, but Berkeley still has its share of good-looking females, so there’s really little reason to complain about it.

I gotta disagree with you here, kyledavid80. I don’t think it’s shallow or superficial to talk about girls or how ugly they are. Just like it’s not shallow to like a college based on how beautiful its campus is. Looks matter, and it’s fine to care about them. It’s just another topic to discuss. Superficiality comes in only when someone cares about looks way too much. So, caring about how good-looking a girl is wouldn’t be that superficial, but wanting to date a girl purely on the basis of her looks is a bit superficial.

Well I got into two schools that are much harder to get into, so I’m pretty sure I would. Grades aren’t everything, leadership and connections also help out a whole lot. It’s OK though, you showed your knowledge by calling them both army schools which produce generals. W/E though there’s no point in arguing. You think Berk is the mecca for gorgeous women, I disagree…

Harder to get into? Really? They don’t sound like it if you can get in with average SATs, a bunch of grades lower then Bs and no AP classes. I don’t even want to know what you GPA was, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t get you into Berkeley. And I don’t doubt that connections played a big role in your admission to whatever schools you got into, but the good thing about Berkeley is that those connections wouldn’t mean anything. But yeah, we can just agree to disagree…

50,000 people open up applications at the academies, roughly 1,200 get in. You also need to be reccomended by a senator, representative, or the vice president. each senator only gets 10 reccomendations as well. Last time I checked you didn’t need those to get into Berkeley? It’s ok though, you can continue to brag that you got into a school with a 25% acceptance rate…oh and you’re in-state so I bet that helps a bit to.

Hey, whatever helps you sleep at night. The facts are the facts. You have stats that would be average at SDSU. I’m sorry if this hurts your feelings or your pride, but sometimes the truth can be painful. If it makes you feel special to tell yourself that you could’ve gotten into Cal then by all means do so. Don’t let the facts get in the way.

Ha I’m not letting them get in the way. Stats or not, fact is I’ve been accepted to better schools then you. And I’ve been in the running for the regents scholarship so looks like I am getting in :). Knowing people really is a ***** though…keep on tryin man, maybe one day you’ll acheive something :)

I’m actually really starting to feel sorry for you. Unless you’re holding back on some schools then no, you haven’t gotten into better schools than me. And unfortunatly for me I had to do it on my own (mommy and daddy don’t have connections). But I guess I feel pretty good about getting into Cal from out of state. And thanks, I too hope I can acheive something in life. And I hope those connections keep working for you in the future. Maybe after you graduate college with mediocre grades they can help you get a good job. AA for rich white kids is great!!

damn ■■■■■■ be hatin jus cuz a playa abbreviatin some words. i dint realize perfect spellin was a requirement.

Yes, yes it is  :)

Well, at least you’re honest with yourself. I think I’d feel kind of weird knowing that I didn’t deserve what I’d been given, but I guess different people are satisfied with different things. I’m glad we got to the bottom of this.

Life isn’t fair, I’ll take what I got…

Hey, if you can live with it then good for you. I hope you work hard and do well.

Thanks :)

wow peace has been reached.

vicissitudes:

“Just like it’s not shallow to like a college based on how beautiful its campus is. Looks matter, and it’s fine to care about them.”

I’m glad to see you think human beings can be easily likened to objects.

I’ll let you continue believing that generalizing about an entire population of people is even possible. (Ever heard of normal distribution? Thought someone brought that up…)

I went to look at Berkeley yesterday, and I went on a tour. I saw more attractive girls in my tour of 20 or so people (3 to be exact) then attractive current Berkeley students. Granted, I was only at the place for 3 or 4 hours so I didnt see the entire female student body.

Ya, lets not generalize society. It wouldn’t be fair to say that “Utah is made up of mostly white people” or “Alabama has the largest percentage of blacks.” These generalizations are completely false!! Normal distribution I tell you!!

What is this obsession with eye candy? Is it a new trend to fantasize about girls that you randomly see on campus? Why does it matter if you can see attractive females on campus if you aren’t going to talk to them (or they aren’t going to talk to you)? And if you are really interested in looking at drop dead gorgeous women, then why don’t you google them? That way, you’ll have eye candy whenever you want.

The truth is, having more attractive females on campus doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be attracted to you. And if they aren’t attracted to you, what’s the point of immersing yourself in more attractive females?

Take my roommate for example. This guys sticks out like a sore thumb: he wears a sweatsuit everyday. He doesn’t wear them because they are comfortable, but rather because his wardrobe consists solely of sweatsuits. Coupled with his less than attractive attires, his arrogant personality strikes people the most. To get girls, he has been hanging out in an all-girl suite and tutoring girls. Does he get any even though he surrounds himself with girls? Hell, no. Why? Because, girls aren’t attracted to him. So, it doesn’t matter how many attractive girls there are if you can’t get any.

Don’t worry about the slim pickings, worry about if you can get any at all. That’s more important.

“The truth is, having more attractive females on campus doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be attracted to you. And if they aren’t attracted to you, what’s the point of immersing yourself in more attractive females?”

Haha, good point. Thank you.

Being a female and a possible incoming freshman at Berkeley (I am currently torn between Berkeley and UCLA), I am little concerned about how much the student population (namely the male population) cares about physical appearance. I have never set foot onto the Berkeley campus but I’m sure that girls there don’t look that bad. They just probably wear less makeup than the average female— meaning that they have better things to do than to gussy themselves up so a bunch of horny college guys would ogle her all day.

Are you so superficial that this is a factor in your college decisions?

If so, I suggest you attend a community college instead.
