How are you going to gain the requisite 10 lbs before New Years?

^^LOL, and ^LOL.

I already made good headway on my 10 by traveling south and enjoying pi

In his attempt to save ME from the 10 lbs., H ate ALL the Xmas cookies I had made for when our kids come home. So I get to make round two, which means I still have a chance to that additional 10 lbs.
Undoubtedly, I’ll get there…

My first (d1) was born at the end of January. Think I gained 25 of the 55 total from mid-nov to due date with the holidays. No Christmas cookie passed me by. Ate entire half-gallon of peppermint stick ice cream in 3 days. Ugh…tried to be good w #2 and still gained 55 w his early spring birth, despite passing up most Christmas cookies.

I love the peppermint stick ice cream! I have some in my freezer until this weekend when I will have family home to share it with. With no kids at home this fall I have lost 20 lbs and H and I are both eating carefully. Made our traditional Christmas cookies over Thanksgiving weekend and sent most of them back to school with the kids. I won’t be adding more than a pound or two, and it will be gone by mid-January!

I love this thread (particularly garland’s post!) but I am actually on a slow (very slow, exceedingly slow) downward trend (19.5 pounds lost in 2.5 years - “weight loss for dummies”). I haven’t done any major dieting or exercising (have to change this part), but I’ve pretty much given up certain sweets and fatty foods and I have no desire to eat them any more. I feel like a party pooper!

I’ll be happy to share a spare 5 or 10 pounds with anyone who needs them. That way I’ll be free to eat several extra tubes of raw Pillsbury’s sugar cookie dough.

We have a program at work called “Hold the Stuffing.” It’s voluntary; to participate you get weighed right before Thanksgiving, at least once between Thanksgiving and New Years, and then again right after New Year’s. If you gain less than 2 lbs, you are entered in a drawing to win prizes of $. If you gain more than 2 lbs, you don’t need to show up for the final weigh-in, or you can show up and thankfully there’s no extra penalty for weight gain (besides clothes not fitting). You can also get entered in additional prize drawings (usually $) by weighing in weekly, regardless of weight gain.

My strategy this year: right before Thanksgiving I attended a conference that had fabulous food, so I was UP for my initial weigh-in.

So far I’ve managed to be down .8 lbs since then, but haven’t weighed in yet this week. The month of December is a food frenzy at work. Every department hosts an open house and we eat our way through the month.

My weaknesses: candy, cookies, eggnog, and anything chocolate.

I am finding it useful to have a reality check every week!

Love this thread! Don’t forget Trader Joe’s Peppermint Jo-Jos!

Oh those TJ Peppermint Jo-Jo’s!!! And a personal experiment has confirmed…they taste wonderful when dipped in a fine Merlot.

Ha… many ways… she says, sipper her 2nd helping of eggnog.

This year I decided to try making buckeye candies (peanut butter core, chocolate coating - looks like nuts). We all love them.

Mincemeat pie and Russian tea cakes are going to have a lot to do with it.
