in an LAC, u shd be okay with a B in Science

let me introduce you to one of my old threads…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=137844

If you get a B in ANY course, you will be rejected everywhere you apply. EVERY college will turn you down, including Compton Community College. You might as well go work at McDonalds or a construction site. Oh, wait, they’ll see that B on your transcript and turn you away too. Starting up your own business? Pshaw, good luck. No one will buy from you with your lousy “b”.

CONSUME CONFORM OBEY - Nothing but perfection will suffice in academic endeavors! All colleges DEMAND their applicants and admittees have no life outside of their studies. If you fail to live up to these standards when you apply, you will be assassinated by the government.

Yeah, my friend once disappeared a few weeks after a B-sighting on his report card.

B = Better give up on life and plan on an early, painful death.

sorry kid, it’s a bummer things had to come to this for you.

Please respect the original, serious intent of the thread.

I am serious as well. Who do you take me for? A liar?

“B” respectful please.

Fair enough, troublesomejason.

In all seriousness, B’s won’t hurt you as long as they come in tough courses and they are few and far apart. Now, if you’re applying to HYP from a regular public school, a single B may still raise eyebrows, but it’s not at all unheard of for such students to get in.

After all, I did :p.

thanks CP, i meant that it didn’t seem fair that threads (mine included) would be taken over by people who were making fun of the author, describing something tangental, etc. i don’t mind a lot of the mischievous posts, but only to a point, cause many times i’m eager for a response only to find that the post isn’t worth much…

I think our sarcasm can speak for itself. A B is not bad, and if the author is seriously not fishing for compliments, perhaps his parents are pushing him way too hard.

I understand you though troublesomejason, it’s just that when it comes to threads like this (“Will A B screw me over?” – which there are sooo many of), you wonder if you should really answer the question.

lol yea, perhaps i am overreacting :)

no worries, I felt just like you did before I realized how many threads are like this. Are people just ignorant?

i think it’s just the insanity of the college game these days-- i mean, we get so invested in it, it’s harder and harder to tell now what will separate you from the other students.

It’s difficult not to get invested in it when it’s a life-or-death struggle.

I got a B is driver’s ed as well. Crap.

The government, in the form of the evil CollegeMom, is trying to censor me and prevent me from spreading the truth!!

But I shall perservere in the name of the HOLY PERFECT TRANSCRIPT!

wut if I have all super high As in science and math…(99%) and grades at my school are DEFLATED (canadian schools…u guys should know…teachers mark super hard)…and Bs in english and some humanities class (like World history) high Bs…I am an intl student there …so…

a big issue if I apply Ivies ???

Yes, very dire. If you step foot into the US, a specialized international assassination squad (AKA the power rangers) will kill you on the spot because of your B’s.

Be very careful.

I did not make the top decile. I got 5 Cs on my transcript. I got into Williams College early-write.

Due to certain things my performance fell for a while in 10th and 11th, I got 1 B 3rd semester, 3 4th semester, and 4 last semester. All in core/honors/AP classes. I have all As at the moment, where will those Bs screw me over?
