How bad do Bs look?

Freshman and sophomore year i made straight As and at I ended my sophomore year with a 4.205 weighted gpa. However, this semester(1st semester junior year) I have been slacking a little and currently have 1 A, 2 A-s, 3B+s, and 1 B. I may be able to bring them up, but I’m not certain I can make solid As.

Anybody?

I just noticed I didn’t put a question in the thread, just the title. To elaborate on the title, my question is will a few Bs affect my chances at getting into colleges? Don’t have any colleges in mind yet, but I’m looking at UVA and Virginia Tech, possibly some out of state schools if I can fey accepted

Please have a little perspective did you notice that you went from one or two honors AP classes a year to an entire AP course load? I am not going to speculate on whether the B’s are going to hurt your chances but surely if I noticed a change in the rigour of your classes than surely an admissions committee with take notice to.

I think the Bs you have are understandable considering the class load. However, I know class rank is important for UVA. Around 90% of their last incoming class were in the top 10%. Your GPA looks to be on par with the average incoming GPA though.

@Jodaus135 you’re fine. Keep an upward trend. Grades from beginning of senior year will be reviewed, too. The special program and rigor are very helpful. You are a good candidate for four year ROTC scholarship with those stats too. You might want to take the ACT also.

@college2021 There are around 450 in my class. Freshman year i was number 2 due to honors credits form middle school. Sophomore year first semester i dropped to four because my course load only permitted 1 AP class, whereas others had room for two. By the end of sophomore year, i had dropped to 7, as people in 5th and 6th(who both had 2 AP classes at the time) improved their grades. I was kind of banking on my 5 AP classes to bring my rank up again this year, but the chances of that happening arent very high at the moment

Is anyone else willing to pitch in to the discussion?
