How bad does a Downward trend really affect you?

So I went from a 3.4 gpa in the spring 2011, to a 4.0 in the summer, to a 3.3 in the fall. My gpa average is still a 3.5 however by the end of this fall. I have all the prerequisites done for my major and this major is Unimpacted. I am also on TAP for UCLA, which I hear is a pretty much guarantee for non impacted majors. This is for UCLA!!

Can you specifically point to which major you are going for? Did you check out the UCLA admission stat of the last few years?

its Anthropology, the average gpa is a 3.5. and it says its a 60 percent admit rate. I finished the prerequisites, and Im in TAP. My counselors say that I should be in. But im just worried if the slight downward trend is bad this fall (3.3)? my gpa is still a 3.5 tho cumulative .

yes you would seem to be slightly disadvantaged if you’re directly compared to someone with the same 3.5 GPA but upward trend

maybe im over thinking this. My counselors tell me they look at the final gpa. And this is not business/economics at UCLA lol I think I should be fine.

I had a 4.0 last spring but through this last summer and this fall my gpa dropped to 3.7. I had to take 16 units in the fall and the classes were very rigorous. but my winter and spring schedules are much easier. I hope that downward trend doesn’t hurt my chances for Berkeley. I’ll have all my pre reqs done and IGETC certified. Psychology major
