Due to COVID-19, my school adopted a quarter system for my last year of high school. This C will go on my transcript - unlike previous years. I had to deal with some extenuating circumstances because my grandfather got ill, my dad had to leave for a little over a month to take care of him, and I needed to take on some extra responsibilities at home.
These are my statistics so far…
Unweighted GPA: 3.845
Weighted GPA: 4.226
Before this C, I got one B freshman year in Advanced Algebra II, and two B’s junior year in IB Physics HL I and IB Language and Literature HL I.
Rank: My school doesn’t rank. But unofficially, my unweighted GPA puts me in the top 20%, and my weighted GPA puts me in the top 10%. It’s a pretty competitive school.
I’m an IB Diploma Candidate. I’ve taken 8 IB classes so far, and by the end of high school I will have done a total of 13 IB classes, and 2 dual enrollment classes.
My extracurriculars include junior varsity volleyball for three years, volunteering at various community events with about 150 hours, tutoring elementary and middle school students, participating in a summer business program at a local university, interning during the summer after sophomore year at a hospice and palliative care facility, and currently interning at our city’s transportation bureau. I’m also the vice president of an activism club. I’ve gotten local awards for some art, and a placed regionally in Destination Imagination - but these were in middle school, so I’m not sure if I should mention them.
I am female and an Indian American. I want to double major in business administration and public health.
I’m applying to the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, University of Massachusetts - Amherst, University of Pittsburgh, University of Denver, University of Washington - Seattle, University of Texas - Austin, College of William and Mary, University of Richmond, University of California - Irvine, University of Rochester, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, and University of Southern California.
