how bad is it to take junior privilege

with all AICE (cambridge equivalent to AP credit) and AP classes next year and lots of ECs I kind of only want 6 classes instead of 7 but would this wreck me? Thanks! I want to attend schools like Rice, Emory, UF, and Tulane!

Ask your guidance counselor for advice specific to your high school.

Why not six academic classes, and one fun elective?

I think you’re fine - the schools you’re interested in probably won’t really care about the difference between 6 or 7 classes.

Our kids’ school only allows 6 classes, and one is usually a performing or visual art. But if your school has 7, I’d echo taking something fun, maybe music or art for your 7th, unless your GC tells you it’s common for kids to drop a class and still get into the schools on your list.

At my sons hs almost all juniors and seniors took a free period. You could take 7 classes but they took 6 and it didn’t affect anyones college admissions.

awesome thanks!

Six Academic classes would be ok as long as you have all five core classes (English, math, science, social science, foreign language).

This would be my schedule

AICE Math
AICE Bio year 2
AP Chem
AP Comp (english)
AP Human geo or art history
AICE US History or APUSH
Privilege and do spanish 3 honors online

-aice is cam bridges program that is the equivalent in rigor and credit to that of an AP class

Junior year? Make sure you will have covered the course distributions recommended by the colleges (and by your hs, for grad.) You have the balance covered for this year. The only question is, will you have enough social sci, so you can take art? Or is art a requirement of its own?

Whatever is missing, make sure you can fit it in senior year. Some kids run into a scheduling snafu, at that point.

I will be taking ap art history senior year to meet the credit
