How bad is this?

how badly will a B+ in health and art hurt me if I’m applying to the ivies?

You’re doomed.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. As you scroll around this site, read the schools’ literature and website info, you’ll discover that they value a broad set of metrics: GPA is one metric amongst many. Good luck and relax a little.

hahahahaha

people like this make me laugh

I don’t even think either of those counts as an academic course when they recalculate your GPA (same with PE).

I hope.

Is a B+ a bad grade at your school? For some schools, only like 2 people get an A- or above in each class. Do they rank? What is your rank?

Some people get straight A’s, get 2400s on their SATs and still get rejected from the Ivies. Others have much lower grades, not good SAT scores, yet get in. There is no real way of telling what will hurt/help you with the Ivies. Don’t lose sleep over it, there’s nothing you can change about your grades now. You will get into whichever school you were meant to get into.

from the people i heard from who take all honors like me, they got B’s and C’s in my health class. It doesn’t really matter what everyone else got because colleges will judge me on my grades. Plus, to me, it looks kinda stupid to get lower than an A in health because it is generally considered to be such an easy class. That’s why i’m worried. Same goes for art.

You have ruined your chance at any half decent college. Since you will end up at a community college, you will most likely get another B due to your obvious inclination towards them, which will subsequently ruin your chances of even entering graduate school. You will have trouble getting a job but at one point you will and you will break your back on a daily basis for the rest of your life, living paycheck to paycheck and you will wish that you would have worked harder in school.

My guess is that you will end up living as a bum on the streets of New York City or Los Angeles or Memphis. You clearly have no idea how to live and are a complete failure. Seriously, a B+? You are one of the worst students I have ever encountered. Give up on any sort of future right now.

If i ever met you, i would shove you in a locker and steal your lunch money. lol.

But seriously . . . No Ivy worth its salt will give a cr*p what you got in those two subjects, as long as you didn’t really look stupid and get a D.

i would work on ur application to ur local community college…make sure those essays are good enuff

some colleges recalculate gpa with only core classes(therefore exculding art, health, pe, etc.) so if it’s not hurting your rank it’s fine.

dont worry too much. i dont think colleges blindly look at gpa, most of them consider course load more than gpa.

look, i know the B+'s aren’t bad grades! I just wanted to know if they would affect my gpa when the college calculated it.

of course it will, but it really depends on the college as well. Getting a B+ will hurt a bit, but not by much I believe.

oo, i also got B+ in PE too…

and the rest were straight A’s !!!

it will hurt your gpa and rank

… and admissions professionals know there is leeway for GPA and rank. Don’t worry about it.

I had a 3.9 something or other, ranked 12-15 (never found out the final placement) and was accepted at all my applied schools, eventually matriculating at one of the HYPS colleges. I never worried about GPA or ranking. Had too many fun things going on to worry about those.
