I’m currently a high school junior and I have a B from 8th grade geometry and a B from my first semester of AP Chemistry. I’m planning to get straight A’s my senior year, so I am not too worried about the future. However, I’m a bit worried about how much these 2 B’s will affect my chance of being admitted into a good college, preferably UCLA or UC Berkley. Would this be a determining factor between me being rejected or accepted into a university or am I just blowing this out of proportion here?
8th grades are not considered in the UC GPA calculation, only 10-11th grades and 1 B on your transcript will definitely not get you rejected. Here is the UC GPA calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
These schools do look at your 9th grades to make sure you have passed the a-g course requirements, but UC admissions is not just your GPA. Test scores/HS course rigor/Essays and EC’s are all considered in the application review. I suggest you visit the UC website and familiarize yourself with what it takes to be competitive.
