So I registered for 1 unit seminar the day before the telebears deadline and the professor told me he can’t take me in the class. I tried to get letters and sciences to drop the class but those ****ers denied my appeal. So now I will end up with a no pass just because a professor can’t take me in a 1 unit seminar. How bad will this look?

Why did you wait 10 weeks to try to sort this out? Doesn’t sound like there’s much you can do at this point, whether it looks bad or not.

I had to drop a class a week before and add a seminar so that I’d be able to meet the 13 unit requirement. It turns out that there’s no penalty for having 12 units and that was never specified when I searched the cal website. I ended up signing up after the professor said that we should talk (I got the email the day before the deadline). He tells me no. What can I do? I know it’s my fault, but I’m getting a no pass because a professor won’t let me into a class.

Why didn’t he let you in the course? I’d assume most professors would love to have more students in their seminar :/!

He’s a inconsiderate guy. That’s why.

Bad. It’s an F, essentially. If you’re looking to go to grad school, that’s a killer, and I’d keep fighting it somehow. Appeal to the Dean? Ask for an I (incomplete). Ask to re-take the class.

The decision is non appealable essentially. I’m pretty upset right now because I’m going to end up with A’s in all my other classes and I’ll have this stupid np on my transcript since this professor wouldn’t let me into the class. I sent in application in which there is a note explicitly stating that the professor cannot let me in the class, and letters and sciences still denied my application. This is ****ing ridiculous. I’m going to get a no pass because a professor wouldn’t let me in a class and I’m unable to drop it.

there are two things I would suggest: 1. Withdraw with a W. It would be way better than an NP. 2. Go to the Student Advocates Office. This is basically what they’re there for.
