How bad would this gap in high school tennis look?

I play for my high school tennis team. I started in 9th grade, was on Junior Varsity. However, during the summer before 10th grade, I suffered an injury and wasn’t able to play that year - so tennis doesn’t show up on my transcript for that year. I’m doing tennis again for the rest of high school as a junior and senior. I will be playing for the Varsity team both years.

How would this gap look in terms of depth of involvement?
I am applying to H, S, M, Columbia, Cornell, so yah…

9th – 11th 12th

:(?!!

I’m sure you could find somewhere on your application to let them know the only reason you didn’t play was because you were injured. Don’t worry too much about it.

Sports show up on transcripts at your school??

Injuries are legit reasons to miss a year. It’s more a problem when kids have a pattern of one-year activities. Make sure the rest of your ECs are in order; sports is just one piece. Now’s a good time to look at that and start to fill any gaps in your activities.
