I’m down at a university, but certainly not for good reasons. I’m only here because I had a terrible falling out with my parents, and by their wishes ended up here. My whole life I’ve had a problem with doing what EYE want to do instead of doing what I’m “supposed to” do. Right now, college isn’t what I want. What I really want is to get out of here, head down to Nellis AFB and my fiance and I can fulfill our plans for getting married. After this school year, that will happen regardless. My question is, how badly will it hurt me to have only a semester of college under my belt, as opposed to a whole year? I will barely be able to afford just the books I’ll need for my second semester; if I quit after this semester, I can save that money and work here for the rest of the year, and maybe have enough money saved to get married. Then later, when I’m a little more financially secure, I can go back to school if need be. I only would like to know just how valuable a bachelor’s degree is, and if it would make a difference to leave here with two semesters instead of one.

are you jap?

where do you get that? No, I’m not.

Probably from your screen name, but a stupid question nonetheless.

Um, I really don’t know what advise to give. Here’s the generic: Do what makes you happy, what you feel is right.

Ahh right. I guess from my name you’ll also gather that I’m not the one to follow the norm, so your advice is gladly welcome.

well if you’re going into the military, they pay for your education (gi bill) and thats only if you want to go school while in the military. if not, it wouldn’t really hurt you that much not to have a bachelors degree in the armed forces, since they train you to do your job and the way you get your rank is by passing all those test that they give you time to study for. i mean, i know plenty of people in the military that get in right out hs or only have an associates degree.

and i don’t think TWO semester of college will look that much better than just ONE. either way, you aren’t getting a degree. so if you’re def not planning to at least get your associates, then just quit now, go to the military, and get married. good luck.

Sorry I didn’t clarify - EYE am not going into the military, that’s where he is stationed, I’m just going down there to be with him.

oh. haha. for some reason i thought you were a guy going into the military. i must have read it fast and made up my own interpretation. my bad. i see, so your fiance is in the military. um, well i think you should at least get SOME degree for the sake of getting a decent job, although you’ll find a lot of civil service jobs on air force bases for spouses that pay very very well, whether you have a degree or not. i mean, i was 16 when i got a job as a cashier at the commissary and got paid $8.30 starting b/c it was a “federal” job. not that that’s what you should apply for. i’m just pointing out the fact that federal jobs pay pretty well, no matter how easy the job. a lot my friends had mom’s who worked important federal jobs on base as civilians while the dad worked in the AF or army.

anyway, have fun moving around (if you get lucky enough too). i’m one of those military brats that actually like moving. hope your parents don’t hunt you down in LV.

yeah, i thought you were just being weird and typed “EYE” instead of “I”.

um yeah it’s late and i haven’t started college yet. someone explain the whole “EYE” instead of “I” thing.

I (EYE?) figured for emphasis…
