how big are premed/predent classes at Rutgers?

<li><p>Does anyone know how big the premed/predent classes are at Rutgers? Big for me can be defined as the professors will not know me on a first name basis. </p></li>
<li><p>Also, can you rate their accessibility</p></li>
<li><p>Can you rate my chances of getting into rutgers undergrad, not the BA/MD if it exists :D?</p></li>
<li><p>Do they offer a combined BA/MD (or perferably a combined dental program) like TCNJ does?</p></li>
</ol>

<p>btw, do not feel obligated to answer all of these questions if you dont have time, but I’d really appreciate it if you did</p>

<p>Here are my stats:
*I am an Asian Indian Male
*From a competitive public high school in Oregon, Beaverton High School, which was also rated the best AP school in Oregon, so yeah, its a smart school.
*student body at school = 500+</p>

<p>The Numbers/ECs
*Freshman year:
4.0 with honors in 2 classes for both semesters</p>

<p>*Sophomore Year:
3.8125 overall for both semesters
(Bs in AP Chem 1st sem, Precalc 2nd sem, Social Studies 1st sem)</p>

<p>*Junior Year (projected)
Human Anat/Phys-A,A
IB Bio HL 1-A,A
Spanish 3-A,A
IB Calculus-A, A (might be at worst 1 “B”)
IB Psychology-A,A

IB English-B,B (might get 1 A)

<p>IN SUMMARY: I should finish high school with at the very very worst a 3.67 or 3.7 UW GPA, but I’ll do what ever I can to prevent that from happening.</p>

<p>*class rank UW right now = 38/515. Weighted = 30/515 (will go up because not many kids have taken hard classes yet)
*IB Diploma Candidate (to be)
*Varsity tennis 4 years (will have 4)
*Science Team 4 years (will have 4)
*World Quest Trivia 4 years (will have 4)
*Science Club Treasurer (1 year)
*Science Club VP (2 years)
*Math Club VP (2 years)
*Portland Youth Philharmonic (will have 3 years)
*Mathfest Algebra 2 1st place freshman year
*OIMT Participant Fresh Year
*Mathfest Participant (will have 4 years)
*Oregon Museum of Science and Industry Rising Star Program (will have 150-175 volunteer hours done)
*Mathcounts Tutor (about 50+ volunteer hours)
*Right now I get about a 1920-2050 on the SAT, 26-30 on ACT according to Practice Tests for SAT, and the PLAN (it’s like the PSAT for SAT except the ACT version) on ACT, but I’m shooting for at least a 2100 on the SAT and 32 on the ACT</p>

<p>You will most likely get into Rutgers, but we need to know your SAT to be sure. You have a very good shot, most likely though.</p>

<p>If by pre-medical and pre-dental classes, you mean General Bio, Chem, and Physics, they are large lectures. Unless you go to a professor’s office hours (which I suggest) they won’t know you. There is, however, General Chem Honors class that is much smaller and the professor will know you. Orgo lecture is large too, but there was Orgo Honors until last year (until budget cuts). It might be reinstated in the next few years, who knows.
By the way, if you take the AP tests for these courses, you will get credit for them if you get a 4 or 5. I’m not sure on the policy for IB.</p>

<p>Professors, on the whole, are very receptive to smart undergrads. It’s just up to you to go and introduce yourself. No professor will walk up to YOU and ask “Hi, Im Dr. blah. Would you like to have lunch with me sometime? I want to get to know you better.” Actually, I should stop I’m kind of creeping myself out by the thought of some old man saying that.</p>

<p>basically…its a very very big lecture class
for chem 161 (gen chem) on average theres about 300 people in the lecture–and thats with lots of people missing</p>

<p>for gen bio, its more liek…500 people…so just imagine yoru graduating class in a room…all taking the same class</p>

<p>Yeap. Pre-med classes at basically every university are that big. No matter if you take general bio at Rutgers or Princeton, it’s going to be a big lecture class. </p>

<p>Small LAC’s might be a different story, I’m not really sure.</p>
