How big is CAL on prereqs?

Although I know it’s already too late to do anything about it & brooding over it will not help but I really want to know anyways T^T;; (if anyone has an idea)

I have a 3.8 gpa & a couple of volunteer & extracirricular stuff but I’ll be completing my one and only prereq for CAL’s English major (my school only offers 1 of the 4 prereq courses) in my upcoming spring semester-- which means that they will not see how I will fare in English (excluding my grades from the GE English courses…). I’m hoping that they will notice how I’ve recieved all As in my humanities courses because subjects in that usually revolve around a lot of reading and writing… right?

I picked English as my major really late so that’s why I did not take this one prereq course earlier…

Will this dramatically impact my admission decision? ): I’m really worried ack

thank you~

as long as u have all ur courses done by end of summer, you will be fine.
i m econ major. for berkeley, i still have my last igetc course in spring. for UCLA, i still have the igetc and another accounting course.

ucbecon how many prereqs did you finish by last fall?
I am an econ major too and I want to know more.

ucb econ should only require econ 1 or econ 2. most of the classes, you’ll be taking here if you get accepted.

if you get accepted you’ll be taking a stat course, an econ course, and maybe calc courses during your first sem if you haven’t finished them yet.

The math courses for UCB economics are common enough at community colleges (including the sophomore level courses for those who want to do the math-intensive version of the economics major – see the ASSIST listings for the math or statistics major to see what math courses they are).

Thanks all. I knew that but I want to know more about how the progress everyone’s made on prereqs.
I just posted my winter grade on Microeconomics on TAU and I still have Calc 2 to finish in Spring. Don’t know if I would be much less competitive comparing with others.

by end of last fall, i had all my major courses done for UCB econ. for UCLA, only an acctg course left.
i didnt go to school this winter since there was only two courses left for me b4 transfer.
and i decided to put it in spring in order to get full time student (financial aid) with two other useless courses :)

They still accept summer courses? I thought they stopped that because of those who were accepted but were not able to pass during summer which means backed up paper work and qualified students denied

^ if u have completed myberkeleyapp, u will find this “You may use the summer term 2012 to complete prerequisite course work for the major.” in ur major section.

^^oh nice!!

@ucbecon: even if they won’t get to see the grade for my only prereq? .__.;;;

I am an Urban Studies applicant transferring from a ccc with a ~3.6 gpa. There weren’t many prereqs for this major aside from calculus, which I didn’t take. I am wondering if they’d be lenient in allowing me to take it at cal? Any feedback would be appreciated

@hoopz: I know for the College of Letters & Science, transfers declare their intended major when we’re there (saying we get in) so I thinkkkk admissions will be okay if you take your calc class there as it’s not like you’re going to go into the major immediately… but then again, they might not unless you have a good reason for not completing that prereq?

I didn’t give a reason on myberkeleyappliation in the comments section as to why i didn’t take calculus because i couldn’t muster up an irrefutable explanation for why i didn’t do a prereq. I didn’t decide on a major until last minute like you so I’m just hoping I still have a shot. It blows that we still have to wait two solid months to hear back…

Does anyone know anything about how difficult it is to change majors after acceptance? Specifically to a different department? I’d like to study film as it relates to the masters program i plan on doing in grad school
