How big of a factor is the W&L Interview.

I finished a W&L off campus interview and I have a feeling I did well, but how big of a factor is it in the application? My numbers are pretty weak (1980 SAT, 3.5 GPA) W&L big on interviews, or is it just a tipping factor like for most schools?

Admissions officer interviews carry more weight in most cases than alumni interviews. W&L looks at campus visits as an indication of your interest, so if you can get there, it would be a plus. At any rate, write a thank you note to your interviewer as well as a note to the admissions officer responsible for your area. Those "old-fashioned" courtesies count at a place like W&L. Your numbers alone don't put you in the top of their pool, but if you've taken challenging classes & done meaningful EC's & community service, you may have a shot. College admissions these days are something of a crap shoot. Good luck!

Huge. Really should not be underestimated. A good interview could be the equivalent of a few points up on the ACT, and a bad could be the equivalent in the opposite direction. Remember, W&L wants more than good students, they want good people with social skills who will succeed and donate money.
