How binding is Restrictive Early Action?

<p>Say I get into Brown University EA and don’t want to go. Is there any way to get out of it? Like a fine? Thanks!</p>

<p>REA only means that you cannot apply EA or ED to any other schools, you are not required to attend there if accepted</p>

<p>Brown only has ED, which is legally binding. If you get into Brown early, you are legally required to attend. The only way out of it is if you cannot afford to attend. You can’t just pay a fine to get out of that contract. You would likely lose acceptances to any other schools that discovered you reneged on your contract with Brown, and it could have larger ramifications.</p>
