How can a Canadian show passion for Science?

I know the ivy leagues and other impressive colleges like to see passion in a specific area. I really enjoy math, but I enjoy science even more. However, in Canada, there isn’t much opportunities to really show your passion.

In Math, the closest thing I have is being a stellar chess player (provincial and national level), and the math Olympiad.

For science, I haven’t heard about a Science Olympiad. There isn’t a science fair I have heard of that gets you to national level, (if there is any tell me!) The most you can do is internship at somewhere scientific.

So how?

Uhm well perhaps you can take SAT subject tests. CREATE clubs in your school. Do research at local colleges/universities. Take summer courses or go to a math camp. There are plenty of opportunities out there, you just have to look hard.
