First of all, good morning/night/evening/afternoon
I am 16 years old and I’m planning to be in the UCLA. I am from Peru and my gpa in in 10th grade (note that in Peru, the education system is primary and secondary, secondary are 7th to 11th grade) is 3.5.
I haven´t took the TOEFL nor the SAT, by i am planning to get the maximum scores in both,
What do i need to be accepted or to have the highest acceptance rate possible? Do I have chances with my scores? What does the UCLA looks for a international student (latin for preference) ? PLEAS HELP
Full fees of $55,000 USD per year.
The more rigorous your HS courses with good grades, the better, Are AP’s required? No, but if they are available, you will be expected to take advantage these course to be competitive.
I suggest that you download an application (I am not sure where to find a sample) and fill it out.
UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) is referred to in Peru as “The Ucla,” however in the US it is referred to by stating each letter in the acronym separately and distinctly as U C L A (you; see, el; ay), not the single word “uckla”.
In the US, high school is 9-12 grade. UCLA looks at grades 10 - 11, and specifically at their identified “core” courses. They are looking for high grades in very challenging courses. Refer to a sample application.
In addition outside of school, leadership roles, and roles that show you are engaged in and care about the community around you are considered, as is athletic and music and other education for your own betterment.
Good luck!
Maybe this question also will help others: I heard some fellows saying that UCLA is not accepting overqualified students, I mean, students with above the average UCLA accepted freshmen applicant’s GPA, SAT, TOEFL. When i saw that I was worried. They say that UCLA doesn’t accept them because admission thinks that they are accepted in better universities, Is this really happening?
Thanks to everyone that posts in here, you are really helping me pursuing my dream!!! Hope you can achieve yours also, best wishes from here!
