So, I was placed into average-kid classes in middle school (thereby setting me up for rejection from the college I want to go to fwptq) so I want to know how I can push myself up a level. Anyone got any ideas?
What level of Math are you in currently? What is your grade? Does your school offer Math during the summer to get you ahead? What level do you want to achieve by Senior year and what schools are you targeting?
Are you just starting highschool? What is your math level?
If you want to level up in Math, you should check if your school has a summer program as stated above. If not and you’re willing to shell out the money, there are online programs, private school summer programs, and community college classes. If you’re a very motivated student, you can self study ahead and take the AP exam in Calculus. Even if you don’t get credit from your highschool, AP credit in calc should help in getting into college.
I honestly have the same worries that sometimes I think one class with hold me back from my dream college. Lets be honest here, I stink at math. I try my best, but math and I don’t get along…at all. Try your best, if you feel as if though you can pursue a higher level of mathematics in high school, I would go for it. If it all doesn’t pan out while moving up, its okay. One math class won’t make or break your college dreams. Relax and focus on what truly matters and is important to you. It will all be okay To go to that higher level, work hard and seek opportunities from your guidance counselor!
Are you taking Algebra as a freshman?
If yes, then you need to take Alg 2 and Trig/ Geometry as a sophomore (double up on math).
Then you can take Precalc as a junior and Calc as senior.
I would recommend getting outside help if possible, like Kumon or Huntington Learning Center.
If that is not possible, start watching Khan Academy videos.
Go to your teacher’s office hours every time and get extra help.
Get a tutor…your National Honor Society usually provides free tutoring.
