How can I bump up my SAT score?

Hey guys and gals,

I’m new to this forum and i was wondering if you know any good methods to bump up your SAT score, and any study tips for studying alone? I went to a prep course over the summer and I kinda got my score up by 200 points or something, so i’m around a 1550ish ( yeah i’m a terrible test taker) and I can’t seem to progress from there. My GPA is alright (3.7) and I have some extracurriculars and after school programs and internships that I attended. I feel that I have decent credentials to enter a decent university, yet my low SAT score is what’s holding me back. I am currently a High school junior taking all advanced courses, so i hope that will be something good. I try studying 2 hours every other day after my homework, yet I feel that I’m coming up short with it since when I review my problems from a previous day’s practice, I spend too much time reading the reason why I got something wrong. Any tips or advice? I’m really scared about it. Also I’m planning on taking my SAT for the first time in May 2014.

Go ahead and be “scared about” cancer if you’d like, but don’t be scared of any test.

That said, in order for me to answer your question, I’d have to know what kind of “practice” you’ve been doing.

Practicing incorrectly will only make you better at making the same mistakes.
