How can I decrease these weaknesses in my Reading and Writing sections?

I realized a pattern in my weaknesses in the reading and writing sections:

I’ve calculated the % of questions I missed in each category over 7 practice tests:

Reading:
59% missed are vocab
9% are passage 1 vs passage 2
16% are the “primary purpose of this is?”
15% are the “this quote suggests?” or ''the author mentions this because?"

Writing is more straightforward:
44% are the sentence construction
48% are the grammar corrections
8% are the “combine the sentences” and “where does this sentence fit best?” in the improving paragraphs

*** So far I’ve studied direct hits but only the first volume, it has helped  but not as much as I’d hoped. I’ve no idea how to work on the other sections of the reading.

The writing is a HUGE pain. I’ve read the seven deadly sins on spark notes and the silverturtle guide but I just don’t get any better ._.

Can someone help me with tips or refer me to any sources that might fix these weaknesses. I think they’re easy to fix I’ve just no idea how. I’m especially worried about the writing.

What you report makes sense. You didn’t realize a pattern; you recognized it. I would hesitate to call your worst scores by section a pattern. Missing 59% of vocabulary questions is a weakness. Missing over 40% of questions in the other sections demonstrates two more weaknesses. But what is a weakness?

I would call the aforesaid: areas of weakness on xyz test. Is it something that can be decreased? What does decrease mean? My guess is your vocabulary troubles manifest when you write and also, at least in part, when you attempt to implicitly scrutinize the appropriate choice of diction for grammar correction.

Be specific. Read news articles. Use a dictionary and a thesaurus if you’re the slightest bit unsure about the meaning of a word.

Practice writing in a noncritical writing forum. Use the feedback. Meanwhile, help someone who’s not as good a writer as you are; give it enough persistence, and you will find improvements in all three areas of weakness.

you might want to work on the math section more, cause your percentage for reading don’t add up to 100… lol

But seriously, go over the practice tests you do and really focus on the parts you get wrong. By the time you’re done reviewing the test, you should be able to get a perfect score if you were to retake, and you should be able to understand every mistake you made and why.

And obviously, study vocab.

By the way, you tell us percents, but you never said how many you were getting wrong total. It would be helpful to know what score you are standing at now, just so I could help you more.

I’m not looking for long term improvements. I want sources to help me right now and to let me memorize info right off the spot - I don’t want to search blindly through newspapers etc. Also, I don’t understand TripSontSlip’s effort to ask me rhetorical questions, all I wanted was some sources, not definitions ._.

lmao.!! Just work on your weak areas and study some vocab. Oh and check out some of the CR guides on the forum.
