Hi Guys!!
I was selected for my Countries national fair Intel ISEF last year, but didn’t attend due to unavoidable circumstances, so hence, I didn’t confirm my Presence for the fair and because of that my name is not on the official list of the Semifinalists of the fair.
So now, if the college adcoms search my name on the website, they won’t find it and hence they might think that I am lying…
What can I do to make sure that college adcoms don’t think i’m lying?
** ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT I MIGHT BE LYING, CAN PM ME; I AM READY TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE COPY OF THE EMAIL I GOT FROM MY COUNTRIES NATIONAL FAIR’S REPRESENTATIVES **
Thanks!
It doesn’t matter what people on this website think. Your country’s national fair representatives have access to some sort of post office, don’t they? Ask them to mail a letter to your high school counselor so s/he can forward a copy to the colleges.
@austinmshauri Thanks! I’ll do that!
@Jelloshozz, You’re welcome. And please don’t PM letters with personally identifiable information to strangers on the internet.
@austinmshauri Actually I was going to remove my name, BTW what should the letter say exactly?
You’ll have to ask the people who run the program. I’m not familiar with it, so I don’t know if being selected but not attending means you only made it through the regional selection or if they still consider you a semifinalist. If they consider you a semifinalist, why didn’t they list you? Your best bet is to contact them and find out.
@austinmshauri I have no idea about that, my best guess would be that someone backed out and they took in place of him…
If you have emails and correspondence from the fair organizers I would think that is proof enough. You want your school counselor to include this info in her reference. You can provide the emails as proof, or whatever other documents you have.
Most admissions officers won’t have time to double check the veracity of every line of an application. I would just note on your application that you qualified for your country’s national science fair.
^^^Some do check. My kid was a member of a US national team–ranked fourth in the US. Adcoms at two schools (both in the top 20) did check–they called the governing body of the sport.
So to be safe, include the backup materials.
