How can I find out the reason why I was rejected from UCSB?

I have a 3.8 GPA from my current school and a 2.5 from a few years back. (Overall it’s around a 3.2)

In my personal statement I wrote about backpacking and figuring myself out while taking a break from school, and how it gave me a “new perspective” on life and education being an important weapon and things like that.

I was rejected from UCSB, and the next day I received an email from “the UCs” stating that I’m three units short of transferring. (One of the classes I had taken wasn’t UC transferable) So I added a short-term 3 unit class, and am waiting to hear back from the other schools.

If UCSB rejected me for not having enough units, I wanted to contact them & ask to reconsider if I will have 60 units completed by the end of the spring semester. Or does the fact that UCSB didn’t contact me & give me a chance to add 3 more units this semester, does that mean my application/essay was too weak to begin with?

You can call and ask them.

@mvara742‌ I believe if you want them to reconsider you then you must appeal.

It sounds like you were three units short. But you already wrote this somewhere else. So I’m repeating myself.

You’ve started two threads on the same topic. Stick with one thread.

If you are rejected, and you made up the missing units, then you’re only option is to appeal.
