I’m a freshman at Florida International University, and I really want to go to some parties. I haven’t been to any parties yet, and I would really like some friends to just go out and have fun with. I don’t know where to look though, and I’m a little shy. How can I find party friends?

So, I know a few people at FIU, but obviously my connections won’t really help you. If you want to go seek out Melissa Garcia and Gino Ojeda then by all means do that. If not, you have two choices: Persuade whatever friends you do have to go to parties OR go to parties by yourself. The latter is definitely super awkward at first, but as long as you have some cover story (“I lost my friends”, “I’m so drunk I don’t know what’s going on”, etc etc) it will work out :)

Why not try approaching a group of students who are partygoers? You can gain friends by just socializing with them. You just need to come out of your shell.

Try Frats. You dont necessarily need to join them, but thats usually the easiest to get in parties. Frats are always looking for people to join. Some freshmen might be on the same boat as you and want to go to parties and dont know where to start. Try some people in your dorm, some might know/ and planing to go to one, make friends with them.

Go with whatever friends you currently have! If they don’t like partying, tell them it’s just for a little bit and then get to know people there. You could also ask on twitter/Facebook etc. If I was there i’d party with you! Lol. Have fun in your freshman year!
