<p>Like many other students, I want to live in the high rises of Segundo North (Alder, Thompson, Miller) or Tercero South (Kearney). Are there preferences (themes, for example) that I could put in my housing application that would increase my chances of being placed there? Also, would applying to dorm with someone I know, as opposed to a random person, hurt my chances of getting those halls?</p>
<p>Kearny in Tercero is reserved mostly for those in Davis Honors Challenge, Laben has no program. Alder 2nd floor is African American theme program. However, it’s not so bad living in other buildings; it’s still a ton of fun. I went to davis hoping for Segundo North, but I got gilmore hall instead; cramped and old, but still great. It’s the people that make the dorm. </p>
<p>BTW high rises are not all that; gilmore hall is 5 floors, and the elevator is a pain.</p>
<p>The elevator is SO slow!! But at least we have our own laundry room and kitchen on each floor! (I live in Ryerson)</p>
<p>From what I saw this year, if you chose Tercero and picked a roommate, you were most likely to have been placed in Tercero South. Same goes with the high rises of Segundo, and also Segundo North. There are a couple of people who didn’t choose roommates who wound up in one of those three places though. </p>
<p>I think you’d have a better chance of getting Tercero South than Segundo North… the best chance to get into T-south would be to choose a roommate and pick Tercero as your first choice. (This is based on this year’s room assignments… there is NO guarantee it will be like that next year)</p>

<p>probably, i love living out in castilian though, it’s like 5 minutes from campus, but having your own common room (and a single for me) is just boss, plus we have our own pool too. the rooms are HUGE compared to the other dorms and it’s easier to do your sneaky sneak activities in them, haha</p>

<p>This year, I lived in Kearney (Tercero South) in a triple. I don’t think there were any triples in Segundo North this year, just in Laben and Kearney. If you request a triple, you will most likely be placed in Tercero South, unless they do some changes to the housing assignments the coming year. </p>
<p>Living in a triple is fine; I ran into no problems with both of my roommates. Just be sure to set out some rules/guidelines, maintain good communication if any issues ever arise, and have fun! 
I found no problem with the space (it’s approximately 20ft by 10ft)–it’s a lot more roomier than other triples I’ve seen at other UC schools, such as Berkeley.</p>
