Anyone have any ideas on how I can improve over the next 2 years?

Some ideas of my own…

-I want to do some sort of research(internship) at a local university during the spring of junior year and summer between junior-senior years. I don’t know much about that yet

-I want to apply to RSI but I have no research experience so I probably won’t make it in. I’m going to apply to NJ Gov School (for sciences?) for sure.

Anyone else have ideas? (Aiming for like HYP btw)

wow so your definetly in.

lol what? i’m not asking for chances, just on ideas on how I can improve my EC’s and other advice for junior and senior years. any science math related competitions that I should participate in but don’t know about lol?

well there are a lot of math/science competitions you could do. USNCO, USABO, AMC etc. look into those and if they aren’t offered at your school, start them up.

thanks, I’ll look into that.

anyone else?

So you’re not taking AP Physics anything before C? I don’t know how that works; I had to take pre-B and B before I could take C.
And you’re taking AP Econ twice?

at my school I can take AP Physics C as long as I’ve taken calculus (which I will have). I’m only taking AP Economics once. I will be taking both the macro and micro AP Exams.

Any ways I can improve my EC’s?

More leaderships plus depth.
Other than that, you are pretty well set.

I’m planning on starting 2 clubs at my school next year that will focus on students learning advanced biology and chemistry (after the AP level)

also, I have an extremely good chance of being an officer in marching band senior year and I have a small chance of being captain of the swim team.

is that good leadership?

also, what do you mean by depth?

Yay a fellow varsity swimmer :3.

do ssp (ssp.org) if you dont get into rsi

^ Thanks for the idea. Is it less selective than RSI or NJ Gov School?

I think it’s less selective than RSI but I’m not sure about gov school.

why do people think that this guy is set for schools like HYP? you have great test scores and okay grades but your EC’s are not amazing. Do you have any awards? Will you be a leader in any of your activities? Make sure you build good relationships with your teachers next year and really focus on those EC’s. Your grades could be higher junior year. Why did you take the SAT sophomore year? (I’m just curious, congrats on your score though)

Get good junior grades. Very very Important…

jets91 - I took the SAT as a sophomore because I knew I could do okay on them and I didn’t want another thing to worry about as a junior. I’ve won a lot of medals at regional and state science olympiad competitions. I was co-captain of a relay for life team (cancer fundraiser). I have a good chance at being an officer in marching band for senior year.

ed1229 - yeah definitely, I’m going to be working extremely hard next year

anyone else? school starts in 2 weeks.

oh ok i see…try to enter in science competitions if you really are into science. usabo, usnco, uspho, etc.

if you want to do research somewhere try Rutgers (I live in NJ and have done research there). the professors there are usually very accommodating. i don’t know about doing research during the school year though…it takes up a lot of time.

more ideas on how I can improve?
