I’m terrible at critical reading and I want to know some ways that can help me improve. Did you read any magazines like the Time? Did you use books for practice? Or could you please offer some tips or strategies when doing the critical reading section? Thank you for any help you provide.
Yo,
I was just like you, I was terrible at critical reading. However, what people have been telling you, that you need to read magazines, read avidly… that’s complete BS (at least for passage based reading). It’s helpful to read if you are learning new vocab, etc.
I used PR’s guide for the SAT. They have some good CR strategies, such as not falling for trap answers (answers the use details and specific words from the passage), getting inside the test taker’s head, making sure that the correct answer is supported in the passage (and making sure the other ones aren’t).
But, I’m not that great at giving advice. Check out these awesome guides by fellow CC’ers.
Hope this helps!
