I’m currently a junior in high school and NYU is so far my top choice for where I want to go. However, I’ve been looking at other people’s stats posted on here and I’m kinda freaking out! I have nooo clue if I’m good enough to get in!

I wanna apply CAS undecided, but I’m not sure if my stats will get me in or not.

ACT:31
GPA:3.617ish?
Class rank: 44ish out of 375ish (?)-this may change as well

I’ve been taking honors/AP courses as well.

EC’s:
Girls’ tennis 3 yrs
Mock trial team (will be 4 yrs at time of application)
Athletics and activites council (will be 2 yrs)
Drama club 3 yrs
Girl Scout for 11 years
30+ hrs of volunteering/community service

I also have a part time job working between 10-15 hrs a week.

Oh, I should probably mention I also got accepted into the precollege program at NYU this summer! I am hoping fingers crossed that will help me network/gain experience/get accepted for when I apply next year.

What would you say my chances are-ish? and what can I improve/do to improve my chances?!?

Oh-especially if there’s anything I can do during the precollege program this summer

PLEASE give any comments/suggestions, I’m freaking out lol

Thanks!

In case this info helps…
I’m caucasian female, financial aid will not be necessary, plan to maybe major sociology, I really have no idea, maybe do something prelaw… the gpa I listed is unweighted (my school doesnt exactly have weighting), and I’m from Milwaukee area of Wisconsin (idk if that helps lol)

Thanks!!

Everything looks good. Try to bring up that GPA to a 3.7+, though. I think that a 3.6 is good enough, but a 3.7 is solid.

I agree with Anapestic, everything looks good. However, I would save your money on the precollege program, as going to the precollege program doesn’t help a person gain admission at all and the money from the precollege program is better spent on NYU’s monster tuition.

your sat score is good and so is your gpa, depending on what classes you take. NYU definitely likes a lot of APs/honors, so if you have alot of those in your schedule, i wouldnt freak out too much about the gpa.

also my advice is to start you essay as soon as you can, because that is probably the most stressful part of the whole process. since those essays are the only really qualitative data they have about you, you want those to be really personal and sincere.

and if it helps you at all… my stats were similar to yours (my sat score was a bit higher, my gpa was a bit lower) and i got in to CAS =] but i also applied EDII so uh idk if you would want to apply early, but i definitely think it helps.

good luck!

Yeah ill probably apply ED CAS, so im hoping!! idk im almost considering applying to stern but i dont think id get in. however, im hoping to get my act up a point at least, so that might help. But the gpa bugs the hell out of me cause its kinda low i know. Is nyu more likely to accept you if you apply ED versus regular decision?

And about the precollege program…my parents are making me do it! lol not that i dont want to but if i dont do it they wont let me go to nyu:( so im definitely going!! even though their tuition is RIDICULOUS, but im hoping that if i can ace my summer classes that will help with me having a low gpa. Cause nyu would know their own curriculum and rigor right?
