My grades are fairly decent. 3.71 GPA as of now. (Not bad seeing as I’ve already passed Algebra 2 has a high school freshman when most of the students here have only barely passed Algebra 1) And I’ve always had high GPAs though. Not to mention an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the world. (They don’t call me the “Encyclopedia” for nothing.) It’s more random stuff that no ordinary Freshman/Sophmore might know, though. Like, if you marry a blue eyed person, and you yourself are blue eyed, you might be/are marrying a distant, distant cousin because the blue eyed gene that resulted from a mutation in Scandinavia…

Anyways.

I’m asking this because I want to improve, academically. I rarely ever do study. (if I do, it’s only 10 mins. The longest study session I’ve had was 3 hours and I was such a grumper afterwards.) It’s not to say my schools easy, in fact we’re pretty much on par with the Top 10 schools in America. I’m not kidding. One of them is down the street and in our school district, so I would know. And the reason I don’t study is that I’m stubbornly impatient about things I necessarily I don’t want or have to do. Another thing is that I want to know how to be involved more in the community.

Currently, I’m involved at the Youth Ministry at the Church that runs during the school year, and then in the summer, I either do the Bible Camp as a counselor/babysitter or volunteer at the Summer Festival that only lasts 3 days. (Usually these are 3-4 hours a day, the Youth ministry about an hour every week except on Catholic holidays.)

This year, I’m intending to re-enter my dance classes (ballet, Jazz, and lyrical) and planning on volunteering at the Youth Center. (I heard it gives good hours, not to mention they get to model for multiple stores at the Fashion they hold every year.) Not to mention I’ve been working on some paintings. (I’ve got a real talent for it, apparently. I saw one kid flip out when he saw a comic of mine.)

I don’t think this is going over kill though. I’ve done WAY more, and I was only a kid.

The real reason I’m asking this is because my parents have worked hard their whole life. I want to be able get enough scholarships to make it into a great school and to make sure they can spend their years together back home in the Philippines, where they belong with family and friends. I mean, my own mother couldn’t even afford to get a wedding dress when she married my dad. All she had was a white sundress and shoes. I don’t want them to worry anymore.

Anyways. To restate my questions: Is there any way to improve my study habits without, “studying?” And is there anymore I can do to improve my competitiveness to standout more as a student to colleges and possibly scholarships?
