There are several websites that provide statistics of admitted students from last year and years prior. You are probably familiar with the term middle fifty? Find the range between 25th and 75th percentile for GPA and SAT / ACT scores, and aim to be in the 50th percentile or higher in each. Your GPA is already where it needs to be, and at this point you’d need to do something mathematically miraculous and drastic anyway, but no worries. You don’t need a 4.0 to get in. Your PSAT score indicates you need to come up at least 100 points, but really 200 points should get it done. You must take practice exams regularly and hone in on your areas of weakness on the test, and then work on improving in those areas. That’s the single most important thing you can and should do.
My daughter had a 135 on her PSAT, and she worked the practice tests hard and raised her SAT score hundreds of points. Now PSU is a legitimate possibility. She’s already in Purdue, Pitt, Indiana U Bloomington, Michigan State, and UMass. All really good schools.
You are starting from a much higher base, so there’s no reason this won’t happen for you. At the end of the day, the measurables GPA and SAT count far more than other factors. Get those number up, and the rest will take care of itself. You already look like a very solid candidate. Good luck!
You already have a great GPA. Since Penn State acceptance is based largely off of GPA, as of now you have a great shot. Keep up your GPA and it wouldn’t hurt to raise your SAT score.
